Psychic Plowboys have been playing clubs from Memphis USA to Tilburg Netherlands since the 80's. The Plowboys are pure floor shaking, butt breaking, myth making, white hot rock and roll. The Plowboys have several CD's, several "boot-legged" CD's, and an award winning video to their credit.
The Psychic Plowboys were formed in 1988 by a small group of out of work sharecroppers on the rural outskirts of Memphis, USA. Discovering that they all shared a mutual interest in Muddy Waters, Green Acres, Jimi Hendrix, Flannery O'Connor, ganja, golf, cubism, Miles Davis, Lenny Bruce, and Psychotronic films - combined with an almost supernatural interest in recreational intoxicants - they moved to a downtown Memphis warehouse to pursue La Dolce Vida.
The Plowboys preach from a pulpit of savagery & sensitivity, to create a unique rock and roll/blues/funk mind warp unparalleled in Western culture as we know it. Their songs are a psychotic celebration of life, love, sex, greed, lust, gluttony, and eroticism.
Known for years as a mainstay of the Memphis live music scene, the Psychic Plowboys generated an international underground following without ever leaving the confines of their home town. At the local level, promoters and club owners talk in hushed voices of the Plowboys ability to create drunk and rowdy crowds. It's almost mystical.
Over the years the Psychic Plowboys have shared their home town stage with national and international touring artists including: Alex Chilton, Reverend Horton Heat, The Grifters, Son Of Slam, Webb Wilder, Tav Falco's Panther Burns, The Mother Station, Neighborhood Texture Jam, Tora Tora, Rock City Angels, The Tail Gators, The Sun Studio All-Stars, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
